How I Use It
After introducing a concept, I frequently use a LearnZillion video to reinforce what we have discussed. It gives students another voice and explanation to listen to, as well as a good video. I post the video on our agenda so they can watch it again at night for reinforcement. I liked the way that most videos addressed the standards and I found enough to make it a very useful site. The site also offers practice problems that follow up the lessons.
I enjoyed using the videos and they kept the interest of my students. They follow an established routine and only last a few minutes. They are useful for the flipped classroom. A teacher can post it the night before for homework to prepare students for the next day. With each concept, they offer a "common mistake" that students make. It comes towards the beginning of the lesson and sometimes I am concerned that it will confuse students and should be later in the video.
