LearnZillion's 6th Grade Math lessons are best used for continuous formative assessment. For many 6th graders, it's imperative that early misconceptions are identified and addressed right off the bat. Information from quizzes like Diagnostic: Understanding and describing a set of data helps kids and teachers identify areas of concern. In addition, lesson videos highlight and address common mistakes students make.

Many of the lessons, like Classify ratios using a decision tree, are well laid out with nice diagrams. Teachers might choose to simply download lesson slides from the resource section and present the material to the whole class. This way, teachers can gauge the pacing as they work through the concepts with students. Alternately, if a student is struggling with this concept, the teacher could assign that video or the guided practice for ‘Classify ratios using a decision tree’ to specific students.

Full Disclosure: LearnZillion and Common Sense Education share funders; however, those relationships do not impact Common Sense Education's editorial independence and this learning rating.
