LearnZillion's 2nd Grade ELA module offers short, clear, and to-the-point video lessons directly linked to some of the key Common Core ELA standards. Through the texts and writing prompts, kids learn skills in four categories: from reading literature as well as informational texts to both informative and narrative writing.

Teachers can easily use these video guides to introduce, supplement, or review concepts. For example, in a flipped-class scenario have your kids watch selected videos at home for a lesson preview. Later, as part of a review, have them work on a related reading or writing assignment, either in class or as homework. Many videos are grouped together to form a complete learning goal -- it's easy to focus on just one step, or to follow the whole path. Be aware that this section of LearnZillion doesn't offer as many videos as some of the other grade levels. For access to some foundational reading resources, it may be best to look at the Grade 3 videos.

Full Disclosure: LearnZillion and Common Sense Education share funders; however, those relationships do not impact Common Sense Education's editorial independence and this learning rating.
