How I Use It
Student read the articles, watched the videos, read the graphs/charts and produced a product in response. Their digital product demonstrated a point of view on the subject presented and invited feedback or commentary. The added their digital product to the "conversation" using Twitter and responded to students form all over using Twitter. If you are working with "They Say, I Say" this is a great way to talk about texts as a conversation. I did this in a High school English class, but it would also be appropriate for Social Studies/History. In addition, they also include popular media and art topics. This website also includes guides from "real" teachers who create classroom experiences using their texts. They have great ideas that can be used in many other areas.
My Take
I love Twitter, but the heavy use of twitter means that not all ages can participate. Kids can participate by leaving comments at the page, but then they miss out on the Social Media aspect. Also, make sure that students will have access to Twitter.
