How I Use It
I have students tell what they've learned at the end of a unit. I also have had them research a topic and tell what they've learned. I've had them make an Educreations video and then post it to their blog for others to watch and comment. You really have to give your students a good amount of time to write/type when they blog.
My Take
I love using Kidblog for students to share their learning in content areas other than literacy. They love getting read each other's posts and comment. I love that I can assess many areas at once in a single blog post. We integrate other technologies like Pic Monkey and Educreations in our blogposts. There is a bit of a learning curve if students have never blogged before, but they learn very quickly. The control panel can be difficult to navigate. Getting back to saved posts is a little confusing.
