How I Use It
I read a book to my class, and used Kidblog to post discussion questions of varying levels to allow practice in developing higher order thinking skills.
My Take
I started using this with a group of more advanced 3rd grade students to discuss a book we read as a class. Of the 19 students, I would say that it was very appealing to 7 or 8 of them, the others lost a lot of their interest after the first few initial postings. I feel that it is a great way to differentiate for those students who are very verbal and/or opinionated as an outlet for them to express their thoughts and opinions. It is also fantastic option for those who are more timid in class speaking in front of others to allow them to participate in "discussions" with other students and/or the teacher without experiencing as much anxiety. I have found that it helped draw out the thoughts and opinions of some of the more quiet students.
