How I Use It
In my current placement, I am working with students in middle school whose primary source of instruction is Homeschooling. By using Khan Academy to drive their math instruction, I am able to keep an eye on what they are doing, recommend lessons based on what they are understanding and topics with which they are struggling, and to access their learning progress remotely. Additionally, both myself and the parent-instructor are able to act as coaches on the student account, allowing all of us to participate in the instructional process. Students appreciate the individual pacing and their ability to work at their own level and their own speed.
My Take
Khan Academy is designed to be work well for individual student instruction. The mathematical instruction is sound and the individual pacing of the lessons allows students to progress and review at their own speed. This is an especially effective way to teach a group of students whose mathematical needs are diverse.
