How I Use It
This tool is great to use in the classroom as a formative assessment. I plan on using Kahoot! to further my educational setting by providing a fun way to grasp how my students are doing in my class. In teaching Social Studies, my students will use this platform to review content, vocabulary and specific pieces of information that I am teaching in my classroom. I like the idea of downloading the class data after using Kahoot! to review the performance of my students at ease. The idea of using devices in the classroom promotes an educational component, on a self level, that will help my students become more engaged and excited about learning!
My Take
The Technological Pedagogical Knowledge component of Kahoot! allows my students to incorporate technology in a fun way to better their understanding of classroom content, while providing a fun and easy way to approach formative assessments. The competitive nature of the game might take away from the actual learning component of the platform, for my students might become more invested in winning rather than understanding the overall outcome of Kahoot! Because there is a time component to answering the questions, Kahoot! might be more difficult for students who need more time in answering questions and might not be beneficial for students who require more time at answering something or who do not do well under pressure. This augmentative approach to forming assessments in the classroom allows teachers to incorporate a fun learning experience for their students while creating a formative assessment that caters to the teacher and makes it easy for teachers to receive instant feedback in regard to student performance.
