How I Use It
I like to use Kahoot in two ways: pre-assess knowledge before I start a unit/topic or to consolidate/review knowledge after finishing part of the unit, before a test, etc. It is an easy platform to make your own quiz (mainly multiple choice) but also there are thousands of quizzes available, but better check them before you try! After the quiz you can get a summary of student responses that can help you to revise sections/questions where students struggle. Normally students get quite excited when running the quiz and it can get loud. Also some students to try to get points quickly answer too fast without thinking about the question...
My Take
I like this project as a teaching tool because it´s a different way to revise or pre-assess knowledge (always analyzing the responses summary). Best thing is that there are plenty of quizzes already available that you can edit and adjust to your syllabus or just use them. It´s true that the platform doesn´t help to copy/edit others and it´s a bit tedious, but not too complicated either. Some of the kids are very competitive and they really enjoy showing their knowledge through games like that (as it states after each questions the top 3). I am afraid that students who struggle reading fast and choosing an answer in a short period of time may struggle in this type of quiz and maybe not very effective.
