How I Use It
I use Kahoot! in a variety of ways. We use it as review questions for novel chapters. We use it to practice roots and affixes that help us to build our vocabulary. We use it for checking for understanding questions on the previous night's homework. We use it as a prior knowledge activity to see how much we already known on a topic. My children love it EVERY SINGLE TIME! Kahoot! is a game that never gets old. I like the fact that teachers have the option to guide to activity or to allow it to move through automatically. The only negative comment that I've gotten from my students is the inability to see the answer choices on their device. Like I stated earlier, Kahoot! can be used in a variety of ways that will engage students every time. My students even created their own accounts so that they could create games for their peers to play. This takes their understanding of the content to the next level.
This application engages all types of students - struggling learners as well as high flyers. Most kids enjoy the competition that is involved and I enjoy the fact that I can get feedback on the activity - individual questions as well as individual student answers. The fact that is web based and can be accessed on any device that has internet activity definitely makes it a winner. In addition, it can be used as a prior knowledge activity, a review game, or an exit ticket - it can fit anywhere in the classroom agenda. Once the questions are in - they are there forever; plus, it allows you to share quizzes with other teachers or explore the public database that you can use as is or edit if you see fit. Kahoot! is definitely an amazing tool that never grows old.
