How I Use It
I use this app almost every time before a big test. The students absolutely love it! Students come to my class and almost every day ask, "Can we play Kahoot?!" Now they know that I only use it the day before the test as a review game. I instruct the students to take their time and go for the correct answer, rather than the fastest response, but often that advice gets ignored. At the end of the game, I reward the top 5 students get a little prize (bathroom pass, HW free pass, little candy, etc.).
One thing I like about this app, is that it is easy to use. It's simple for me to create one as well as for the students to join. I also really enjoy how engaged the students become when they play this app. The downside is that I feel students, are just pressing the buttons without reading. They're trying to be as fast as possible, rather than to actually think about the correct answer. I think this would be best for questions that require quick either you know it or you don't responses. Numbered responses or a vocabulary review would be great for this. Anything that requires critical thinking would not work for this app.
