How I Use It
My students had such a blast responding to the pre-assessment questions on our lesson! In fact, one asked, "Can we play again?" I liked that Kahoot adds music and a timer to keep the assessment questions moving along in a "game show" feel. It really helped get them engaged in the topic and ready to learn. Plus, I was able to leverage the teachable moments to explain and discuss questions students answered incorrectly. The only thing that concerns me about the website is that it prompts students to share their results on Twitter or Facebook-neither of which are allowed at our school. This can be great for pre-assessments or as an exit ticket.
This is a great application for reluctant, struggling learners. It immediately grabbed their attention. The time limit on the questions really kept the activity moving and didn't allow them to get off task. I think it's great for pre-assessments or exit tickets. Students won't even know they are demonstrating what they know or don't know. It works on any internet-enabled device making it a great tool for the BYOD classroom.
