How I Use It
We use IXL math for support with our struggling math students. The students enjoy using the program for short periods of time to build their math skills. The site is visually appealing and uses rewards to encourage students to continue to progress in order to increase their math proficiency. My math intervention specialist uses the tool to allow students to work independently after some intensive instruction takes place. The students have found the site to be engaging and have experienced a great level of success in building their math skills. This site makes math practice as fun as possible. My only complaint is that the site is focused solely on drill and practice with no connection to real life math. This limits our use of IXL math to only targeted interventions.
It's a great tool for the purpose its designed for - building math skills through drill and practice. IXL math could better serve kids by developing real life applications in order to connect the skills students are learning to the real world.
