How I Use It
Working with entire population of mixed language and levels of ELLs I use Google translate to chose a concept to go over with students that is important to content. Then, while the site is projected on the Smartboard, I put the volume on and we go through the phrase together in all the different languages of students represented in the class. Students begin to see and grasp what other student's languages sounds like and they laugh and my pronunciation as they are experts. Everyone feels more at east after a round of Google translate.
My Take
It's great for an icebreaker type activity as I described above. However, there are many many inaccuracies in the translations, and some students constantly rely on this and copy from this and it's just wrong.
