How I Use It
Google Earth can be used many different ways, from an engaging and thought provoking unit starter to student research about an area or geographical feature. I have enjoyed using Google Maps or Google Earth to kick off a geography unit (for 2nd and 3rd graders) by starting with a close up sky view of our school and progressively zooming out and discussing the different features and symbols that are visible at each level.
My Take
Google Earth and Google Maps (satellite view and map view) are very helpful classroom tools that can be used from early elementary up through high school. It is most helpful with a projector or SmartBoard so that students can see a larger image.
