How I Use It
I use Google Drive for many things in my classroom and with my fellow teachers in our school.
First in my classroom it is used for submission of bell ringers and assignments, which allow for teacher comments to be returned to them quickly; sharing of handouts; access to QR codes that the students are expected to scan for classroom use; and for collaboration with group partners that are not able to be in the classroom at the time.
Second I share handouts and information with teachers through Google Drive. These handouts can be shared with all or with selected individuals and can allow for viewing or collaboration. Our external review committee used the presentation portion of Google Drive to collaborate and create their presentation for the external team to review. It was a success.
While this product doesn't extend or enhance learning as a product itself, it is the facilitation tool for extended and enhanced learning. Students are excited to be able to share their documents and collaborate with each other using Google Drive.
On another note, we use this extensively for submission of assignments and sharing of handouts. It helps in saving paper, but it also eliminates the loss of assignments and the excuse that "the dog ate it".
