How I Use It
Two years ago, I teamed up each student with an online writing mentor. Every Monday, students would submit a new essay or revisions from a previous one. Every Tuesday, online writing mentors would make comments and suggest revisions. Students would take those comments and submit a new draft to me. In short, every single student received feedback from an additional adult without having to coordinate face-to-face meetings.
Google Drive is a must for all students and teachers. Students can write and revise their work anywhere online (and many use their phones or tablets). Teachers not only can make suggestions in real time but also can monitor student progress. Finally, any frustrations with technology go away; essays are organized and are never lost.
