How I Use It
I use Google Classroom for each of my senior level Spanish classes. I find it useful for all levels but it became almost essential to my AP course. Because my students are already set up with Gmail and proficient in using Google Docs, the transition to Google Classroom was painless. I was able to post the class syllabus, resources, and discussion questions all on one platform. This was great for organizational purposes as well as for absent students. Google Classroom also provides an easy and user friendly way to have student submit their work and receive feedback.
I cannot speak highly enough about this tool. It provides a central hub for all class resources and facilitates communication between myself and my students. I particularly enjoy the "Question" feature where students can post responses to a prompt and reply to one another. This creates a new way for students to collaborate in a forum that I can monitor. Though I did not utilize this feature, Google Classroom allows parents to have access to class material as well. This could be great for younger students who are still refining their organization and study skills as well as allow parents to be more involved in their child's learning. Google Classroom allows me to compile all types of resources together in one place and provides avenues for my students to think critically about and explore those resources further. This tool has changed the way I am able to teach my courses and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
