How I Use It
This site could be used in a number of ways within an art classroom. The site can be used to enrich art critiques by allowing students to compare and contrast and focus in on fine details of work. Students can explore art movements/styles, cultural and historical contexts of works, museums across the world, and art mediums. This site can be used as independent, partner, group, or whole group work.
This tool is an excellent tool that enriches the classroom environment. The large array of available works exposes students to works of art and artists throughout history up to current works. Students are able to view multiple works at one time allowing for rich comparing and contrasting activities. Historical and cultural connections can easily be made by students and can help facilitate rich conversations about the works. Students can explore examples of a wide variety of mediums, helping students to better understand the capabilities of different mediums. Artists can be searched where students find the artists works as well as a synopsis of their life. Historical figures can also be researched where students are provided with an array of images.
