How I Use It
Used at the end of a series of lessons, students synthesized their learning by creating a "poster" with pictures, video, text and animation to share their learning. It is a lot of fun and a great way to see the depth of student understanding by the way connections are made amongst ideas. Would also use it as the end product in a student centered task, where students are to investigate a topic and share the important ideas with others (informational), or convince others of a point of view with relevant evidence (argument).
My Take
Essentially, a digital version of the standard poster that students have been producing in classrooms for years. This makes the concept simple enough that even middle grade students can do it (despite the 7-12 grade indication). The digital interface makes the projects engaging and creative. Students can add text and pictures, embed videos, draw lines for connections...creativity with content is really emphasized. The interface takes some getting used to, but kids are not put off by this - a little instruction and they're off! (There is a new iPad interface as well). Plus, there is a gallery of user created glogsters that can be used for inspiration.
