How I Use It
I have used Glogster in several different ways. Students have used Glogster for research presentations (i.e., the climate of the South in the 1930's), incorporating images, videos, and key words. They have also used Glogster for one-pagers, where they analyze a passage, include a symbol, and evaluate the novel as a whole.
My Take
Glogster is effective if it is used well. The technology is 'plug & play'--a variety of templates make actual creation of a Glogster easy. The benefit of Glogster is the discussion: What images should be included? What videos should be included (and should the entire video be included)? Which template will best appeal to my audience? How should the components be arranged on the page to best appeal to my audience, or to lead them through my argument? The technology skills needed to build a Glogster are low--my 5 year old nephew created one--which means teachers can lead students in fierce discussions about audience & content rather than fighting with technology. The ability to share and/or make Glogsters public makes this a simple way to open your classroom to administrators, parents, and other stakeholders.
