How I Use It
I used Glogster to create my class newsletter once a month to send out to parents and staff. Each month my middle school students were assigned a role (photography, captions, videos, etc) to complete during that month of school. They had to capture what was happening in our class, what we were learning, etc. Then at the end of the month, they had time to work on our digital poster to create our monthly newsletter. The finished product was sent out to parents who signed up for the link as well as my administrators so they could keep up with what was happening in class.
My Take
I think this was a great teaching tool for students to learn about headlines, choosing the right pictures, summarizing in captions, etc. There are lots of journalism/newspaper and ELA skills to hit with this tool. It also worked wonders with parent communication. Obviously the first couple we did together as a whole class so they could learn the tools and understand my teacher expectations. I also let them create a "crazy" Glogster with all the animation, pictures, captions, etc. they could fit on there- just to give them some time to play with the tool.
