How I Use It
Flocab was best used for class as a starting point to dig deeper. That's how I still promote and encourage teachers to use it. It serves a great overview to introduce units and identify specific concepts, ideas, vocabulary to deepen understanding. The Week in Rap is perfect for journal/blog writing, and really is one of the better resources for current events.
With accompanying lesson plans and varying activities, Flocabulary makes it easier for teachers to introduce, explain, and reinforce various concepts. With all the core areas covered and even a section for "difficult" vocabulary, each video (with transcript provided) makes the learning process fun and memorable. Students like music. So putting the content in lyrical format just seems to work. I do wish some sections remained free and not tied to the subscription - like "The Week in Rap."
