How I Use It
The few times I have used it, I have shown it as a whole class review. I projected the website onto the board and had the students listen to the rap. I think it would be helpful for the students to have a copy of the lyrics so that they could sing along if they want and to go back and look at them when studying. It was a "fun" thing to do, but I don't think that the students took a lot away from it. I would have rather just give the students the lyrics and have them rap it themselves; I think they would have gotten more out of it. If I do decide to use it again I think it would use it as "entrance music." I would have it on while students are coming into class and getting settled.
My overall opinion about the product is that it is useful for ELA and Social Studies, but not much for science (which is what I was using it for). I like the idea that it puts things into raps, but the songs are often hard to follow. They do have the lyrics available which is helpful. To me it seems like something that is just in the beginning stage. It has good bones but needs to be fleshed out more (at least in the science section). I looked through all of the videos and only found 2 videos that I could use with my classes and I had a variety of classes that I was teaching. To make it a more useful site, it would need to include more science content that is on various levels (specifically more middle school level stuff).
