How I Use It
Although I am no longer in the classroom, I am a technology trainer for high school. In addition, I have 3 school age daughters of my own. One of my own kids was having a very difficult time memorizing the presidents for her U.S. History course. I bought a subscription to Flocabulary, and she LOVED it. Since then, my other children have used it for lessons in Math, Science, etc. In the classroom, I would recommend using this as an activator or a summarizer. Additionally, students can utilize this on their own at home for additional practice. Flocabulary definitely takes me back to using Schoolhouse Rock growing up!
My Take
Overall, Flocabulary is a great platform. While some of the lessons are clearly targeted to lower age groups, almost all children can benefit to key concepts being taught musically. Sometimes a song will get stuck in their heads when no amount of lecturing will. Other than using it briefly as activators or summarizers, I would recommend that in the higher grades, Flocabulary be used primarily as an independent practice tool.
