How I Use It
I use flipgrid to check my students' understanding. They are able to share their thoughts in a setting where everyone is able to share equally. I have them listen to their classmates and make comments using the video capability. Using Flipgrid this way creates a discussion between students instead of a one sided conversation. They can hear all of the other students' ideas and share their own. I post a link on google classroom to my topic and students are able to access it right away.
My Take
I really enjoy this tool. It gives the students that do not like to share in the whole class setting an opportunity to share with their classmates on their own terms. If they do not like their first video, they can redo it as many times as they want until they are happy with it. In some instances, I have the students write down a script before they start their video. This makes the students accountable for what they say and not including subjects that are off topic. I do have students that will go off topic, but this strategy greatly reduces the amount of occurrences.
