How I Use It
My students usually do not like writing. Some of them mentally check out when the word is mentioned. When I introduced blogging, many students were puzzled by the concept, but after having them post their thoughts about the text, create aliases, and backgrounds for their blog sites, they were enthralled. It took out Reader/Writer journals to a whole new level. It also allowed students to easily share their work with other students, and for students to practice giving positive feedback to each other.
This product is great engagement tool for students who are reluctant writers. By providing a creative outlet integrated with technology, students felt like the writing was more of their own expression rather than just an assignment. The blogging site is safe and is only open to other users. The teacher can moderate an entire class.
