How I Use It
I use this program daily in (and out) of my classroom. We used it to hold discussion forums, organize our class material, post our projects, and so much more. My students would set their notifications to get direct messages from me so that I can reach them any time and any day. I also used this app/website to team teach with an AP Government teacher. We held weekly discussions on the website and students would post to each other throughout the week. I have presented on Edmodo several times and enjoy helping teachers learn the tool. It is, hands down, the most used web app in my school and classroom.
Professionally, our district uses Edmodo for online PLCs and my school used Edmodo for department groups, to post and house our lesson plans, to have extended conversations beyond our PD meetings, etc.
As a teaching tool, Edmodo was my go-to. I liked that it was available on my students' phones, so if they didn't have a computer they could still access it there. I will say, I don't like the ios app for Edmodo. It's glitchy and it's not user-friendly. My students hated it and refused to use the app. They just access Edmodo through Safari or the web browser.
