How I Use It
I use it to share information with parents and students. I also have connected with other teachers across the world through their groupings. I have used it to group students by ability labels and interest, and have sent out differentiated assignments. I have even created my own badges as virtual student rewards. The students also have a backpack area where they can save their work virtually apart from uploading it to turn in. I share information with students with post as well as grouping things together in folders. The one thing I wish you could do is archive these folders like you can the individual classes that you teach since I don't teach the save classes every year, but may teach them again in the future.
My Take
Edmodo was so easy access and use and set up. I love that I can upload whatever we do or use in class, or group students into ability levels and individualize instruction and content. It connects with Google docs, which I use with my electronic white board daily in class, so what we do in class is immediately updated on Edmodo. It takes the excuses out of the conversation with students and parents. There is also an app for the smart phone. My only complaint was with the app in that id does not function like the website, but the students figured it out on their own and we've had no problem with it other than that.
