How I Use It
I love using Go Vocab for the kids vocab review. They have enjoyed it in class so much that they go home on their own time and play on their own to be the top point earner in the class. It is great to do a non-traditional writing assignment or have a class conversation as well. I also joined a foreign language group where I get great ideas for resources for my own classroom. I also use it to communicate with the students outside of class hours. A lot of times students have questions about an assignment or may be having trouble and they post a question to the page where myself or others can help them. For my upper level classes we have also been using it for homework assignments. Their writing prompts get posted and they either follow links that are posted or write their response right in edmodo. It is a break from the regular pen and paper and the students really enjoy it.
I really enjoy using it in my Spanish class. The kids enjoy doing writing assignments and having conversations on the website rather than always writing with a traditional pen and paper. The Go Vocab app is great. The kids love playing the review vocab games and taking quizzes and even go home on their own time to earn more points to be the top earner in the class. I have seen several students improve their quiz scores since starting the app. The repetition has been wonderful and students are able to play different types of games and quizzes that are better suited for their learning styles. I also use it to keep connected to students when they are at home. If they have questions about an assignment they go on the site and post their question and students or myself get back to them.
