How I Use It
Edmodo is useful for all of the above reasons as well as one other important one. It can be used as an on-line homework access and submission center. You can use it to grade assignments and leave feedback. The students can use it to communicate with the teacher as well as critique assignments. have used it from something as simple as writing assignments for a Graphic Novels class I have to engaging the students in an on-line conversation about a video we watched in class together for which they had to provide an on-line reaction.
My Take
Edmodo is a great place for Library Media Specialists who are tasked with the Federal eRate Curriculum which mandates teaching kids proper on-line etiquette and behaviors. The reason Edmodo works so well is that kids can explore and "play" in it without fear of predators. The on-line environment can be kept closed, but still does a good job of simulating interactions akin to Facebook postings. The other great part??? Parents can be provided with their own login so they can observe what their children are doing in the on-line environment.
