How I Use It
I use Edmodo to organize all my documents for my classes, send students and parents notices and notifications daily, and keep in touch with students as whole groups, small groups, and individuals. I can keep in touch with students who are absent (and so can the rest of the class - many times an absent student will email a question and have several answers before I can log in) and I have even had conversations and assignments turned in on snow days! This is a great tool, and one every teacher should check out. Our whole school uses it.
Edmodo is a safe place for students to learn what social media can do for learning and education. When students are absent, they can see (or post a question about) what we did while they were gone. Assignments and even quizzes can be posted and turned in here, and teachers can score and comment easily. Some types of quizzes can even be scored automatically with immediate feedback! It has a calendar feature, a library of all uploaded files, and several features to keep students motivated and involved. It is an easy site to manage, it has lots of help (and quick customer support), and parents can keep track of their students as well.
