How I Use It
I post apps for my kids to use in stations or at home. They also make comments on things they have learned, similar to the "ticket out the door" system. I hope to use it to incorporate the flipped classroom this year. I would like to include resources and things for students to view at home or before class that we can then discuss and apply in class. I like that Edmodo allows you to store files and create folders for organization. One area that I would like to see improvement is in Quiz creation. I have created numerous quizzes in Moodle, and several simple multiplication fact quizzes in Edmodo, are much more through in Moodle. For example, in Moodle, I can set a quiz to allow retakes and put parameters on passing to enable other quizzes.
My Take
I teach 3rd grade self-contained. I mostly used Edmodo for Math. It has some great apps for practice. This was my first year to use it, and I only started in the spring. Therefore, I only added free apps. for my students. They begged to get on the computers and play, which meant they were motivated to learn. I liked that it is also a safe environment for kids to blog without having an email address, since my students are so young and don't have them.
