How I Use It
I use Edmodo in several ways. One of my favorites is as a place to do short research projects, since teachers can post documents, web sites, etc., in folders for student access. This way, I can differentiate when necessary for content and process. When students' projects are complete, they can post their work for the class to see and use for study guides, when appropriate. I also use it to generate conversations about readings, from short articles to longer works such as novels. I have also had students respond to quizzes and polls for immediate feedback.
Edmodo provides students with an accessible, engaging method of extending classroom lessons. The ability of teachers to monitor comments prior to posting can be useful, and since students can access Edmodo on their mobile devices and at home, discussions can take place after the school day is done in an environment with which students are already comfortable.
