How I Use It

After teachers make an account, they can create a group or multiple groups for students to join.

After students register using a group code, teachers can then assign tasks, create a poll or quiz and add items in a variety of formats to the class library.

The new apps feature of Edmodo allows teachers to select high-quality apps to grant permission for student groups to use.

The apps library boasts a wide variety of content, from interactive books to game design.

Some apps are free, while others require payment.

Another handy feature allows for teachers to pull content directly from a Google Drive account and insert it into their Edmodo library.

Do you have a smartphone or tablet?

Use the Edmodo app to grade assignments on the go and post notifications to the class.

Do you moderate a school club?

Edmodo is a great way to communicate with club participants anytime.

Organize your digital classroom with Edmodo.

My Take

As teachers make the transition to incorporate technology in the classroom, an increasing number of assignments take on a digital format.

With so many amazing tools to choose from, how can a teacher use a tool, collect a product, assess the student’s work and generate comments all in one place? Edmodo is an online platform that allows for collaboration and the sharing of resources between students and teachers.

Perhaps its best feature is that it allows students to practice digital literacy skills in a safe and secure environment.

Teachers have the ability to join professional learning groups to enhance their own learning.

And say goodbye to uploading class rosters!

Students simply create one account (without the need for an email address) and enter a group code.

They are then instantly connected to the teacher and fellow group members.

Districts even have the ability to create an Edmodo URL that allows for access to powerful administrator tools, including usage analytics.

Edmodo allows teachers to drive instruction from a central place, and helps to keep everyone organized.
