How I Use It
I use this app in a variety of ways for both lower students, general population students, and gifted students. It allows students to work at their own pace and level. It is very game based and motivates students to keep going through the various levels. It also requires students to go back and review previous material so they are staying current on their understanding of the language.
I have also personally used this app to learn Swedish, and I find it to be a very enjoyable experience.
I think this is a fantastic tool to use with any group of students that are working to learn a foreign language. It can be useful for differentiated groupings and really motivates students to work at their own pace and level. This is a great tool to use with students who are just entering your classroom, and need some extra help. It also is great to use with students who want extra practice. It is self leveling and scaffolds to the needs of the student. Each level allows for up to 4 mistakes, before redirecting the student back to the beginning of the lesson for some extra practice. The app is great because it keeps track of student progress and the progress can be shared with teachers for monitoring. The lessons also integrate with social media (facebook/twitter) to allow students to share their progress with others.
