Data GIF Maker is a website from Google News Lab where students can generate simple animated GIFs from small data sets. Have students explore the site and enter data you provide into each of the three tools: Rectangles, Circles, and Racetrack. Students can then analyze the illustrations to determine a set of guidelines for what types of data are best used with each tool. Once GIFs are created, you can download them to your computer or share them via a link. Use Data GIF Maker for everything from class polls to election results to get students telling stories in any content area.
