How I Use It
Every year we celebrate Computer Science in Education week by hosting an Hour of Code sponsored by code.org . It is quick and easy to implement and has very high student engagement and interest. I have used it successfully with grades 2-5 for the last 3 years. Great support is provided. After the Hour of Code is completed I use it as a reward for my students. Many students also utilize this site at home to continue their learning.
My Take
This is an outstanding teaching tool. Great tutorials are provided for educators with limited experience who are interested in hosting an Hour of Code. The Hour of Code program itself is very well designed and interesting. Students are very motivated to continue advancing through the scaffolded levels. Videos are interspersed throughout to provide support as the levels become more difficult.
