How I Use It
We use code.org for individualized lessons, coding club and group CS learning. The kids loved having their own record of learning and being able to see progress along the way. Our kids were also applying vocabulary in meaningful ways which was amazing to see. During the last stage of each lesson in code studio, kids could create their own "application" based on learning. This is where our kids struggled because they could not envision what to create and that did pose problems.
I love code.org and will continue to utilize its resources as well as training. For those stages where kids got stuck when being challenged to create unprompted, I do recommend having some "story starters" handy for when kids need it. Perhaps this is something that code.org can build within its service. On the whole, it is hands down the best gateway into learning CS for younger kids and honestly prepares them in a way for scratch where creativity is entirely unscripted.
