How I Use It
Code.org offers a wide range of activities that range from an Hour of Code to 4 full coding courses for students ages 4-10+. Course 1 is for ages 4-6 Course 2-3 and 4 are for ages 6+ and should be done in order. I used course 2 with 3rd graders and they loved it. They learned hands on coding concepts that would otherwise be very difficult to teach: conditionals, debugging, binary code, algorithms, functions, loops, variables... They also have several shorter activities that also teach coding concepts that students absolutely love because they are based on Minecraft, Star wars, Frozen...
My Take
This is an extraordinary tool for teaching basic coding to elementary school students. It's fun, engaging, and FREE.
