How I Use It
Code.org had a great opportunity for students titled "Hour of Code". This resource was a great tool to help students problem solve, follow directions, and assist others with explanations
What Worked: All students are able to work through the process step by step, reaching success at each level until they earn their certificate of completion at the end.
What Didn't:. For the site when I did the Hour of Code activity I didn't see a way that students could save their progress to finish at a later time. My students were utilizing the program in the computer lab and when our time was up those students who worked hard all hour, but were unable to quite finish found there was not a way to save their work.
I liked many things about this teaching tool. First, the step by step videos were not only helpful, but were also done by several famous people that students recognized quite quickly. I like how the program was very user friendly. I like the great discussions and collaboration I witnessed as students worked to complete their levels as well as support their classmates. I also liked the other various opportunities students could engage in to learn even more about coding.
