How I Use It
I use this product several different ways throughout the school year. At the beginning of the year I give students individual points and allow them to earn rewards each week. I have a reward chart with a range of points posted in the front of my classroom beside our Classroom Do's (rules). Each positive point correlates to a Do. Examples of these include Do Your Very Best Work, Respect Others, Participate, etc. Some of the rewards students can earn include: sticker for 10pts, Furry Friend Day for 15pts, Sit by a Friend Monday for 20pts. Each week they redeem their points for rewards. Later in the year, I create imojis for small groups. The students work together to earn points and rewards as a team. Then in the last quarter, students work as a whole class to earn rewards they come up with. At the end of each month they get a class reward if they meet their goal. The students decide how many points they can earn each day/wk/month and set the goal. Each day we do a math problem to see how many points they need and how many they have to earn each day to stay on track. Finally, I use this app to connect with parents and track behavior. There is new feature called messages where I can send instant messages back and forth to individual parents or the whole class quickly and easily from my phone app or on my desktop. This keeps us all on the same page and makes class announcements a breeze. Class Dojo collects and graphs the behavior data for me which really comes in handy for specialized instruction.
Fantastic app and web tool! This is my fourth year using this tool and every year it gets better. My students are motivated and engaged by the instant feedback and it helps keep me consistent.
