How I Use It
I use it to teach my students how to enter the class room and begin to prepare for class. Sixth graders struggle with coming into class and getting prepared and beginning work. This is their first experience with changing classes every period. With class dojo, I can quickly mark who is prepared to begin class. They collect the points which are used at the end of the grading period as either a grade, extra credit, or for a class party if enough points are gathered. I use it for teaching appropriate class behavior and preparation for learning.
It is a great tool when your students are struggling with getting settled and focused. I started using it 3 weeks ago and I find that I am not having to ask students to get ready for class, they just come in and get ready. My classes range in size from 30 to 35 6th graders per period. They have in a short amount of time learned self direction. They see me tapping on my tablet as I take attendance so they quickly get focused so they get the point for the day.
