How I Use It
I use Class Dojo on a daily basis in my 4th grade classroom. I set daily and weekly point goals that students are encouraged to meet. They are rewarded for meeting these goals with homework passes, extra technology time, sit with a friend, etc... Students receive positive points for homework, being engaged, participating, line/hallway behavior, working quietly, clean desk, helping others. However, they also receive negative points for behaviors such as interrupting, no homework, disrespect, off task, etc... We looked at our behaviors at the end of the week that are displayed in a circle graph format. We discussed ways to improve, but they were also praised for things they worked really hard on. I use reports for parent conferences as well. It was easy to show parents how their child interacts in the classroom each day. Class Dojo is an excellent way to encourage great behavior in any classroom.
Class Dojo is a great tool for teaching students about making behavior choices in a positive way. It is extremely easy to set up and use in the classroom. I love being able to customize specific behaviors for my students. Parents love the weekly behavior reports that they can access. Students enjoy creating their own avatars. They also love being able to see their behavior points in real time. This tool has worked wonders in my classroom!
