How I Use It
Set up your class list on the website and download the app on your phone or tablet. Have the students choose positive and negative behaviors and set that up on the site. Give the students their codes to check their progress and customize their avatars. Send home the parent codes so the parents can check their student's progress (and only theirs). Then, have website open or the app open and award positive or punish negative behaviors when applicable. Warnings are very effective. Sometimes I project the class dojo screen but not always.
It is engaging and interesting to the students, visably pleasing, completely customizable, compatable with many grades, clear, and a good source of behavior reporting to parents. Students are drawn in by the customizable avatars and the opportunity to earn points (or are interested in not losing them). All of the positive and negative behaviors are customizable to fit the class' needs. The students and the parents both get codes so parents can track their student's progress at their own convenience without contacting the teacher which a huge convenience. With this tool my students learn how to make positive decisions on their own and it takes so little time to use this tool in class.
