CK-12's Probability module covers a diverse range of resources, including reading passages, pre- and post-read activities, assessments, videos, study aids, and links to external sites. Content coverage is comprehensive, covering everything from Counting Techniques to Properties of the Normal Distribution and everything in between. Listed within each topic there are also subtopics, making navigation easy. For example, under the Set Theory topic, subtopics include Sets, Venn Diagrams, Sample Spaces and Events, and Operations with Sets. You can click on any subtopic to find the resources housed within.
Be sure to check out the Read activities, which can be a great follow-up to a lesson on a similar topic. Have your students work through the activities independently or in small groups, but be sure to review and discuss the Guided Practice problems as a whole class. Use the videos to supplement your whole-class instruction -- you can pause to address any common areas of confusion or questions that might come up.Continue reading Show less

Conditional Probability And The Rules Of Probability
Describe events as subsets of a sample space (the set of outcomes) using characteristics (or categories) of the outcomes, or as unions, intersections, or complements of other events (“or,” “and,” “not”).
Understand that two events A and B are independent if the probability of A and B occurring together is the product of their probabilities, and use this characterization to determine if they are independent.
Recognize and explain the concepts of conditional probability and independence in everyday language and everyday situations. For example, compare the chance of having lung cancer if you are a smoker with the chance of being a smoker if you have lung cancer.
(+) Apply the general Multiplication Rule in a uniform probability model, P(A and B) = P(A)P(B|A) = P(B)P(A|B), and interpret the answer in terms of the model.
