How I Use It
Brain-Pop has been a staple of my class for many years. Using the quick video to introduce a topic or to review a topic has been successful, and students enjoy the corny jokes and banter between Tim and Moby. Often, the quiz offered for each lesson is a great tool for formative assessment prior to a mini-lesson to see how much students may know about a topic after watching the video, but before delving more deeply into the concept.
My Take
BrainPop is a great support in a classroom. It is wonderful for blended learning and offers students who are visual and aural learners another way to access the material. If BrainPop were able to have a downloadable quiz, rather than only online, it would support learners who may need a different visual/written format, and would allow for additional tools to be used along with the quiz.
