How I Use It
In my classroom we mainly use BrainPOP as a remediation resource. If students are still struggling with a concept after we have explored it in class, they can independently explore the videos to have the content explained to them in a different way.
BrainPOP is a great starting point for a lesson or a good way to get students up to speed on the basics of a certain concept. I like how simply Tim & Moby explain the content. The videos are just long enough to cover the topic without students losing focus. The website also has a nice design to it. What you can't count on BrainPOP for is engaging in higher level thinking and applying knowledge. The quizzes at the end of the videos only contain multiple choice questions that require rote memorization from the videos. Overall, BrainPOP is a great site to deliver basic information to students in an engaging format.
