How I Use It
I've used BrainPop in multiple ways in my classroom. First, I started using BrainPop in my Technology Literacy Station. Students were able to watch the Feature Video (which usually deals with an important topic for that day) and then they were able to reflect on it. For example, what did you take away from the video, what more do you need to find out. Second, I've used BrainPop as a whole class video in my classroom. Sometimes, you just need a little something for your lesson and often times I try to turn to BrainPop to search my topic. This is because the videos that Tim and Moby create are exciting for my students to watch and my students are able to take away something from viewing the video. You really can't go wrong with that.
I love using BrainPop in my classroom because the videos that Tim and Moby create are short and to the point. They don't drag on and thus losing the interest of my students. Instead, the videos are engaging and exciting to watch as Tim and Moby embark on a new adventure or discovery. What I really liked is how at the end of the video, you can take a quiz, re-watch the video and even complete activities related to the topic. BrainPop even offers lesson ideas (which is new) that incorporates the topic of the video into a lesson format. Overall, you can't go wrong with BrainPop when it's packed with some many helpful resources.
