How I Use It
I use short instructional videos on BrainPopJr to enhance my minilessons and reinforce the information that I presented to the class. I generally play the videos after I have introduced the topic, so the students already have a basic knowledge of the topic. Depending on the length of the video, I may pause it at certain intervals to ask questions and gauge student learning. After the videos, we generally move into our small group or independent work.
I think this is an AWESOME teaching tool! Many students are visual learners, so these videos definitely appeal to their leaning style. I think that it is good for students because they are able to watch many of the videos again after class. Being able to access information outside of class and or school is wonderful, as many parents like to work with their children at home. It could serve my students better if more of the instruction resources were accessible without a paid subscription.
